California Software Symposium '98 ** Call for Participation ** Featured Topic: Software Engineering in a Fully Connected World ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ October 23, 1998 University of California Irvine, California The California Software Symposium (CSS '98) is the eight in a series of annual meetings on software engineering co-sponsored by the UCI Irvine Research Unit in Software (IRUS) and the USC Center for Software Engineering (CSE). The purpose of these symposia is to bring together researchers and practitioners to share ideas on the state-of-the-art and state-of-the-practice in software engineering through presentations and panel discussions. CSS '98 will focus in part on software engineering in a fully connected world. We encourage submissions on this topic. Other topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Computer-supported cooperative work * Reuse and reverse engineering * Documentation, training, and * Security education * Formal methods * Software engineering environments * Human-computer interaction * Software process and workflow * Metrics, measurement, and evaluation * Software system architectures * Product and process management * Testing, verification, and validation * Program understanding * Ubiquitous and mobile computing * Requirements and design * WWW protocols, standards, and applications Papers, presentations, and panels are invited on new approaches and experiences. Emphasis will be on early dissemination of new ideas and on experience with software techniques on actual projects. Experience reports should report lessons that have general applicability. Submissions are due by May 22, 1998. The program committee will review all papers, presentation abstracts, and panel proposals for quality and relevance. Details on submission categories and requirements, how to submit, and important dates can be found in the full Call for Participation: http://www.ics.uci.edu/IRUS/css/css_98/cfp98.html For a hard copy CFP, contact Aileen Broccardo, IRUS Administrator, at aileen@ics.uci.edu, 714-824-2357.
