Call for Papers Workshop on COORDINATING DISTRIBUTED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS for the Seventh International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises (WET ICE '98). 17-19 June 1998, Stanford University, California, USA ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Up-to-date information on the workshop can be found at http://wwwagr.informatik.uni-kl.de/~holz/WETICE98/ _______________________________________________________________________ Workshop Description -------------------- Although there were tremendous improvements in software engineering over the last decades, basic problems remain: software development is expensive and time consuming; software projects often run out of time and over budget. Due to recent developments (e.g. the widespread use of Internet technology), the pressure on software engineers to deliver their products faster increases. These requirements lead to larger development teams that often will be globally distributed. The distributed development of software in (virtual) enterprises is a great challenge for project management and requires new techniques for project coordination, document management and communication. The workshop discusses the resulting requirements on and different approaches to software project management. Workshop topics include (but are not limited to): * distributed software development support (client-server based or decentralized) * software agents for software development * distributed process modeling * distributed project planning and plan enactment * distributed document management * monitoring and managing distributed development processes * distributed change management * knowledge management and access in distributed projects * workflow management and coordination support in distributed projects * around-the-clock software development * Internet-based software process coordination * multimedia support for software project coodination ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Paper Submission ---------------- Papers must be submitted via e-mail. Only UNIX-printable postscript files (not compressed) can be accepted. Send your paper to: holz@informatik.uni-kl.de Papers may not exceed six pages in IEEE format [http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm], which is single-spaced, 10-pt Times -- something in the vicinity of 2000-2500 words, depending on the number of graphics included. Authors will be requested to take part in the peer review process and will be asked to review other submissions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Important Dates --------------- Submission Deadline January 30, 1998 Notification of acceptance March 2, 1998 Advance Registration May 17, 1998 Workshop June 17-19, 1998 Final papers due for proceedings June 30, 1998 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Workshop Organizers ------------------- Barbara Dellen, University of Kaiserslautern, Department of Computer Science, P.O.
